Is the GOP Helping Bernie Sanders?

Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

There is something strange happening on the campaign trail these days, there appears to be a small effort on the part of some Republican outfits to bolster the campaign of Sen. Bernie Sanders of Vermont. In the last week there have been two items that have jumped out at me as being very strange, but explainable by the sage expression I opened with. The first is a campaign video (now removed) produced by Jeb Bush backing SuperPAC America Rising that touts the huge crowds that Bernie has been drawing as of late. That wasn’t the biggest deal, or all that effective if you ask me… the TRULY large cannon blast across Hillary’s bow came in the form of a now famous poll showing Sanders beating Hillary in New Hampshire. There are several interesting facts about that poll…

The Real GOP Debate Winner

Donald Trump

So I watched last night’s slow motion train wreck known as the Republican Primary Debate of Fox News. I, mostly unsuccessfully, resisted the urge to shout things at the TV and try to weigh the candidates and their answers. I decided to make it a sober exercise (I shockingly avoided the bourbon) to find out who “won” the debate. I managed to agree with some of the candidates on some points, this was very rare. Most of the time was head was spinning while wading through the enormous piles of bullshit that spewed forth at a pace too fast to shovel. On substance… none of them won. I have never seen such a vacuum of original ideas in my life. On style, hands down Donald Trump with his I don’t give a shit about facts or substance verbal barrage was the crowd pleaser in Cleveland and Republican households across the country last night. The guy is a walking reality show… but enough about that ass clown. The real winner last night was Bernie Sanders. Wait, what? Yes, Bernie took to Twitter last night with the hashtag #DebateWithBernie and unleashed a barrage of gems that gained him another 10,000 followers last night alone. Here are a few of the highlights:

Bush: Trump is an Asshole

Jeb Bush

Someone check the temperature in hell… I agree with Jeb Bush on something. In a recent “private” conversation with a donor, apparently Jeb Bush referred to Donald Trump as an “asshole”, “clown”, and “buffoon”. He may have also gone on to say water is wet and the sky is blue… none of his statements are in dispute at this time. I will let you know if anything changes. Have a look at Politico for more substance… but honestly who cares what else he had to say?

Bill Clinton, Concern Troll

Trump Clintons

There is a party going on at the GOP, and you’re invited!

Urban Dictionary defines Concern Troll as:

In an argument (usually a political debate), a concern troll is someone who is on one side of the discussion, but pretends to be a supporter of the other side with “concerns”. The idea behind this is that your opponents will take your arguments more seriously if they think you’re an ally.

Biden, the Wildcard

Joe Biden

I don’t hide the fact that I am a Bernie Sanders fan, mostly because he is an honest man and I agree with his politics. The same can be said for Joe Biden, and if he were to run my loyalties would be torn. I think Joe has a real chance of defeating Hillary Clinton, and his entrance into the race would suck the wind out of the sails of Sanders. As likable as Bernie is, Joe Biden is america’s favorite grandpa/uncle/etc… I encourage you to read this excellent take on a possible Biden candidacy by the Huffington Post.

The Coming Democratic Landslide

Blue Wall

Democrats have constructed a blue electoral wall that will be impossible for the GOP to penetrate

There will be a predicted $5 Billion spent on the 2016 election and unless you own one of the media conglomerates that will be on the receiving end of that money, it will all have been for roughly no reason. You see, there is almost no chance for a Republican presidential candidate of winning the presidency barring a screw up so big by the Democratic candidate that even Democrats won’t vote for them. It’s a bold statement, I know… but it isn’t that inconceivable when you break down the coming election into what it is… a numbers game. Specifically the Electoral College. The magic number needed for any candidate to become President of The United States is 270 electoral votes, and as far as I can tell the Democrats have around 254 in their pocket going into game day, the GOP has 181. Where do I get those numbers? Let’s have a look shall we?
